Iron Paw Challenge measures every performance against a single, dynamic global standard — the Global Dynamic 100. Three scores sit on top of that line: ELO ranks the dog over time, Event Score locks in what happened on the day, and Current Level shows how that performance reads today.
The three scores
The dog's competitive rating over time. Used for overall rankings — shows how strong the dog is as a competitor.
- Driven by placement in each event
- Weighted by the strength of opponents
- Adjusted by event size and importance
The dog's official score in a specific event. Decides the winner, podium and the official event result.
- Calculated against the Global Dynamic 100 as it was on the event date
- Locked permanently once the event is approved
Shows how a performance stands compared to today's level. Used on dog profiles, discipline statistics and historical comparisons.
- Recalculated against today's Global Dynamic 100
- Updates as new records are approved
Global Dynamic 100
In each discipline, the best approved global performance is worth 100 points. Every other result is scored against that line. If a new record is set and approved, it becomes the new 100 mark — but past Event Scores never change.
Scoring families
Every discipline belongs to one of four families. The formula stays the same inside a family — only the input changes.
Hangtime & Tug Of War — discipline ranking
Hangtime and Tug Of War are max-time disciplines. On the discipline statistics page, dogs are ranked by how many times they have completed the full 20 minutes — not by raw points. If several dogs have reached 20:00, the one with the most 20-minute completions is ranked highest.
| Rank | Dog | Best time | 20:00 completions |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Boss | 20:00 | 14 |
| 2 | Nova | 20:00 | 9 |
| 3 | Diesel | 20:00 | 4 |
| 4 | Rex | 18:42 | — |
Boss is ranked above Nova because Boss has completed the full 20 minutes more times. This affects only the overall discipline ranking — Event Score is still based on the time held in that specific event.
Approval & locks
Each event must be approved before its results count. Once approved, the Event Score for every participating dog is permanently locked. Current Level and ELO continue to update — Event Score does not. This keeps history honest: a 2024 record can still be read against today's best, but the points the dog earned that day stay exactly the points the dog earned that day.
